Licensing of new companies keeps growing

Between January and the end of July, 121 new companies were set up within the International Business Centre of Madeira (IBCM), representing a growth of 34,4% when compared to the same period of 2016.

At the end of July, a total of 2.065 entities were licensed in the three sectors of activity of the International Business Centre of Madeira: 1.494 in the International Services, 48 in the Industrial Free Trade Zone and 523 in the International Shipping Register of Madeira-MAR.

These indicators reflect a positive performance of the IBC of Madeira during the first half of 2017 and clearly demonstrate the consolidation of Regime IV, as well as the result of the promotional efforts undertaken by SDM, targeting highly competitive markets to promote the IBC and Madeira as a very attractive jurisdiction for international investment. In fact, in 2017 the IBCM has been successful in attracting new companies from both already consolidated and emerging economies.
